University of the Arts London (UAL) offers a range of courses focused on architecture, spatial design, and interior design. This BA (Hons) 3D Effects for Performance and Fashion course was designed to equip students with specialized design and craft skills for careers in various creative roles within TV, film, performance, and fashion industries. It covers design for theatre, film, music, television, and more specialized performances like circus and carnival. The program emphasizes teaching by industry practitioners, professional workshops, and work placement opportunities to provide practical experience and industry connections. Graduates are prepared for diverse career paths including film, television, art installations, and fashion. Students engage in lectures, seminars, critical analysis, workshops, and collaborative projects. The curriculum includes units focused on design fundamentals, 3D effects techniques, fashion cultures and histories, and ethical considerations like climate, social, and racial justice. The second year offers opportunities to explore digital technology and collaborate with industry professionals through an industry project and placement, requiring a minimum of 60 work placement hours. An optional Diploma in Creative Computing or Apple Development is available between the second and third years. The final year allows students to showcase their acquired skills through a personal performance project and a dissertation, focusing on innovation, design development, and critical academic research. The course aims to foster a strong practitioner identity and prepare students for the demands of the contemporary creative industries.
