Environmental Sciences is a multidisciplinary field that examines the complex interactions between the biological, chemical, and physical aspects of our environment. It addresses critical global issues such as climate change, pollution, and sustainable development. This program equips you with a broad scientific knowledge base, including physical and life sciences, mathematics, economics, law, and social sciences, to understand and address environmental challenges. You will develop skills to monitor, protect, conserve, and sustainably manage the environment, preparing you for a career focused on safeguarding the planet's future.
The course is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorials, laboratory classes, and extensive fieldwork. You will study key Irish ecosystems and gain practical experience in ecology, aquatic biology, global environmental change, and environmental governance. The program also offers opportunities for fieldwork in international locations, research internships, and the chance to undertake a significant individual research project in your final year, working alongside faculty members.
