ACU Industry PhD Scholarships

Open to domestic and international applicants of any nationality who hold a Master's degree or equivalent with a strong academic record, can submit a research proposal aligned with an industry partner's goals, meet English language requirements (IELTS/TOEFL where applicable) and satisfy ACU Research Training Program and Australian visa requirements. Candidates must be willing to collaborate actively with the industry partner throughout the project.

Open to domestic and international applicants of all nationalities who are admitted to, or enrolled in, a full-time PhD in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law at Victoria University of Wellington. The doctoral thesis must address financial reporting or financial management in developing countries, with a focus on capacity building in primary industries or industries operating under concession agreements. Preference may be given to applicants from developing nations who intend to return home after completing their studies. Applicants must meet the university's standard doctoral entry requirements.

Max Planck Institute Visiting Fellowship

Open to doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and senior academics of all nationalities who are affiliated with an institution outside the host institute. Fellows pursue independent research in the humanities and social sciences during a short-term stay and are expected to take part in the institute's academic life. Doctoral applicants must hold a Master's-level degree; postdoctoral and senior applicants must hold a PhD.

University of Melbourne

University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship

Open to both international and domestic students applying for, or enrolled in, a Master by Research or PhD at the University of Melbourne whose research is directly related to human rights. Applicants must show a demonstrated commitment to human rights through academic, voluntary, or professional work, must not have completed a comparable research qualification before, and must not have previously held a graduate research scholarship from the university.

INPEX Scholarship Foundation

INPEX Scholarship

Open to nationals of Indonesia, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates who hold a relevant bachelor's degree, are under 30 years of age, have a GPA of at least 3.00, and can secure a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a graduate programme at a Japanese university before the scholarship begins. A separate outbound track exists for Japanese nationals under 35 who wish to study or research in one of the three partner countries.

Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Doctoral (CGRS-D)

For doctoral students undertaking a PhD at a Canadian institution, with an outstanding academic record. Awards are made by Canada's tri-agency (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC); applicants apply through their university, and eligibility (including for international students) follows the current Canada Graduate Scholarships rules.

Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project

For prospective international master's and doctoral students who win the Open Doors olympiad. Winners gain the right to enrol at a participating Russian university without entrance examinations and to study tuition-free (on a state-funded basis). Applicants register online and compete in subject tracks.

American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT)

ARIT Research Fellowships in Turkey

Open to U.S. citizens and to non-U.S. citizens who are resident in the United States or Canada with an institutional affiliation. Applicants must be advanced graduate students (PhD candidates at the All-But-Dissertation stage) or postdoctoral researchers pursuing humanities or social-science research related to Turkey's history, culture or society. PhD applicants must complete all doctoral requirements except the dissertation by mid-2026.

University of Miami (with the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation)

University of Miami Stamps Scholarship

Open to high school seniors, both domestic (U.S.) and international, applying for first-year undergraduate admission to the University of Miami through Early Decision I or Early Action. Applicants are automatically considered with no separate scholarship form; they must submit all first-year admission requirements and demonstrate strong academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. Semi-finalists complete a Zoom interview.

Open to domestic and international students with a strong academic record (commonly GPA 3.0-3.5 or higher) who are enrolled or planning to enrol at the University of Florida; demonstrated leadership and extracurricular involvement may be required, and some awards have residency requirements.

UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)

Chevening Scholarships

Open to citizens of a Chevening-eligible country (~160 countries) who have an undergraduate degree, at least ~2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience, and who intend to return to their home country for at least 2 years after the scholarship. Applicants must secure an unconditional offer for an eligible one-year UK master's by mid-July.

UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (Chevening)

Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship

Open to Chinese nationals who intend to return to China after the fellowship and who have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector. Applicants need a postgraduate-level qualification or equivalent professional training in a relevant field and must not hold British dual nationality. Those who have received UK government-funded scholarships before must observe a 5-year gap. The fellowship is hosted at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee as part of the UK-China Energy Dialogue.

CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research)

CERN Research Fellowship in Theoretical Physics

Researchers who hold (or are about to defend) a PhD in theoretical physics with no more than six years of research experience after the PhD. Open to nationals of CERN Member and Associate Member States, with a limited number of places under the Non-Member State Postdoc Fellowship Programme. Current CERN staff members are not eligible.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

Open to Canadian and international students pursuing a doctoral (PhD) degree at a Canadian university. Candidates must be nominated by the Canadian institution, not yet have started the doctoral program beyond defined limits, and demonstrate academic excellence, research potential, and leadership.

Schlumberger Foundation

Faculty for the Future Fellowship

For women from developing and emerging economies to pursue a PhD or post-doctoral research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at universities abroad. Fellows are expected to return to contribute to their home countries; grants are renewable subject to performance and need.

University of Limerick and Teagasc

University of Limerick Teagasc Walsh PhD Scholarship

Open to international and domestic applicants who hold a first or upper second-class honours degree in a relevant discipline and meet the University of Limerick's English language requirements. Applicants should have strong problem-solving and data-analysis skills, a full driving licence, and ideally experience with statistical or modelling software. A master's degree is an advantage but not required.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

MIT Need-Based Aid for International Undergraduates

For international undergraduate applicants to MIT, which is need-blind in admission and meets the full demonstrated financial need of every admitted student. Aid is a grant (no loans in the standard package); the amount is set by each family's assessed need.

MCW Global Young Leaders Fellowship

Open to young people of all nationalities aged 18 to 26 who show a demonstrated commitment to their community in education, health or economic security, are fluent in written and spoken English, have reliable access to email and the internet, and can commit to the full programme - a virtual community needs assessment, a 10-day in-person training in the USA, and a year of project implementation with mentorship.

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowships (for Postdoctoral and Experienced Researchers)

For researchers from abroad — postdoctoral (normally within 4 years of a PhD) or experienced (within 12 years of a PhD) — to carry out a long-term research stay in Germany with a host of their choice. Selection is on academic record and research potential; applications can be submitted at any time.
